Today I learned something...

Our district is  moving toward the performance based system. Learning at your own pace.

What does this look like in first grade? Wow I am excited to learn about how to manage an individualized program for each student in my classroom. 

Getting the kids to understand their purpose of being in school will increase their wants to move forward in their education. Knowing what is to come. The goal would be to have a first grader understand their purpose for being at school and should begin to have so show interest in their own learning.

Purpose: Why am I at school for 6 hours?  What do I like about school?  What can make school more fun? What can I do to help me understand my purpose here in this classroom? Do I know what a code of conduct is?  Do I know what culture is? How can I use code of conduct to make my day amazing?

I learned I have to help this little 6 year olds come to grips with this type of information. Ok how do I know that... well because these are going to be the answers that will help our student develop and understand this framework to work through daily so they can have that amazing day?
