Beginning to UnPack our IXL Math Program

IXL will be rolled out in our classroom next week. (The week after halloween)

IXL is a “Learning App”, that are students just about to use. I have just googled IXL parent video and came up with a few videos to view. After watching these videos I thought this video would best fit, what your child will be asked to do for homework on Wednesday nights.

Please watch this video. IXL for Parents This video will familiarize yourself with the IXL program. As we both familiarize ourselves with this program we will see that it fits nicely with our Everyday Math program. With our curriculum map that you received in the beginning of the year, you can match the areas to work on with the particular skill on IXL.

As we both begin to use IXL please note that sticking with the proper grade level and skill level will help the child progress even faster. We don't want to create missing holes for skills to come developmentally. Please be aware of your child's ability and create practice not anxiety. Use this as a fun "learning" time with your child. Your child may need help manipulating through the program as it can get a little confusing. It is a learning program not active game game.

Week of Nov. 4-8. Please start to familiarize yourself with the program Make it fun, enjoy the time with your kid.

****Work on practice skills anywhere in LEVEL A and/or B. ****

Here is another video How to use IXL. This will show you the IXL basic format. About 10-15 math problems seems about good to start with. You can increase the # of math problems with your child if you see the need to practice a particular skill more. We will monitor the amount of stamina your child has and make sure we end this practice on a good note!

Have fun. Comment below if you have any comments, questions or great moments!
