Today we have Gym and Guidance.  We will be talking about the books that we brought to school today!  We also will be meeting in our Friendship Gathering circle to talk!  Ask your children what they learned today in our Friendship Gathering!

Good Morning Class

Today is Wednesday October 26, 2011.  WE have a full day Wednesday today.  I hope your family remembered.  Just a reminder that there is NO SCHOOL on FRIDAY OCTOBER 28th for children.  Teacher will have a workshop day!  Yahoo! :)

Today I would like to let you know that there are no specials for our children today so we will be working extra hard on academics. We also will be practicing our I PICK song!

As you know our school will be participating in a Halloween parade. Since this year our parade lands on a Monday, I thought we would end the day with a classroom Halloween Movie and treats supplied by me. I will be bringing in cheese and crackers, veggies and dip and some popcorn.  If you would like to pass out something for the class that they can take home, great!

My thoughts:  Mondays are always difficult for students and to start the week with a parade, then end it with a big party and then trick or treating in the evening, I personally think that is to much for our kids.

Its tough for me to keep the Halloween Celebration on the low down a Halloween Movie and Snacks are what is on the agenda for Monday afternoon!  Thanks so much for your understanding and I look forward to our Monday Movie!

Good Morning Class

Today is Monday October 24, 2011.  WE have Art class today.  We also will be adding to our Daily 5.  I will be introducing a new choice during our readers workshop.  I am looking forward to having our children working independently during the morning reading block.

Good Morning Class...

Today is Wednesday October 19, 2011.  It is my Uncle Daves Birthday today.  Happy Birthday Uncle Dave!!!! Can't wait to see you in December.

Today is a 1/2 day Wednesday so no specials today.  I would like to announce that our class is earning $8 for great behavior and as of this moment our kids have $4.91.  We need to get $3.09 before we earn our class party.  On Friday our class will vote on what kind of party we would like to have.  So chit-chat with your student to decide on a "cool" party.  I would like to save a Lego party for later the school year.

So we will be working on this over the next few weeks. Our class just ordered 4 shoe tying kits.  They will be in the classroom by Monday! We should have most of our kids tying shoes by the end of first grade!

Good Morning Class

Today is Tuesday October 19, 2011.  We have Library today!  I hope that you all remembered your library book.  Sorry we haven't been writing on our blog but here we are for today.

A reminder to those who are reading this blog this is a blog for information about what is happening in our classroom. I wanted to ask the parent who are reading this blog to chat with their students about the I chart.  Our kids are doing very well in class BUT... I am starting to get a lot of interruptions.  Your child should be able to explain what an I chart is.  Ask them about their jobs and my job on the I chart.

Today is Tuesday October 12, 2011.  We have library today  We will be talking about how to choose a partner when your ready to read to someone and during partner math.  We also will be introduced to the word wall and nickels.  Today is a busy day so get ready!

Good Morning Class

Today is Friday October 7, 2011. We have music today.  While I was reading our substitute notes.  I noticed that the sub was just a little disappointed in your behavior in Music last week.  Music class is a very important class.  Most of the school in the United State do not have music.  Our music program here at Fairview School is a very special program.  If you behavior continues to not be perfect in music then you may not be able to join music class again.  Mr. Gagnon is a wonderful teacher and he expects that his students behave appropreitly. I also expect that all of my students behavior is wonderful in my class as well as all the other classes that you are involved in.  Such as Art, Music, Gym and Library.  Each of the teachers in these special classes are just the same as your learning teacher Mrs. Smith.  Its important to show respect in everyway during your time at school for the day!  Please know that I will be talking to all of your Specialists Teachers to make sure that your repecting their classes.  They give you grades on your report.  The grades that you get are similar to the grades that I give you for reading, math, writing, behavior, science and social studies.  They give a 1, 2, 3, 4.  A 4 is a check ++ so I hope all of you get 3's and 4s in your specialisits class. 
**** Remember your manners in music, art, gym and library!

Happy Sunny 1/2 Day Wednesday

Today is Wednesday October 5, 2011.  We have a 1/2 day today!  I hope that you will be able to get outside to play today!  I heard on the news this morning that we are going to have 6 straight days of sunshine and a little rain this afternoon maybe. Please take a few minutes and go outside and play!

A few things that I would like you to know.

1. I will be sending out parent volunteer information on Friday so look for it in your Friday Folder.
2. Field Trip next Wednesday to Harvest Hill Farm in Mechanic Falls.
3. I would like to send home some books for your children to start reading.  This form will be sent in your Friday folder so please take a minute and look carefully at your BLUE FRIDAY FOLDER.

Good Morning Class
Today is Monday October 3, 2011.  We have Art today!  We will be talking a lot about vowels, classroom jobs and I am going to teach you about small group work.  I wanted to let you know that I read the comments that the substitutes left and I am very very very...HAPPY, PROUD and EXCITED about your behavior while I was gone.  This means.... we need to have a little party because you guys had a wonderful week and I am very proud of each of you!

I would like to talk about the kind of party we can have!  Lets make a chart of a few ideas then vote on it!  I hope you have a wonderful Monday.  Thank you for being great First Graders!
